What Is a Resin Board?
A resin board combines timber with cured epoxy resin to create a functional serving piece with decorative colour and detail. The timber provides natural grain, warmth and character, while the resin creates striking inlays and artwork that make each board visually unique.
Our boards are designed as functional art: pieces that can be used for serving, entertaining and display rather than being hidden away in a cupboard.
Which Resin Board Is Right for You?
Resin Cheese Boards
Cheese boards are a versatile choice for smaller grazing spreads, cheeses, fruit, crackers, antipasto and casual entertaining. They are also a popular gift size because they are practical, easy to store and still make a strong visual impact.

Grazing Platters & Charcuterie Boards
If you regularly entertain or want a centrepiece for a larger spread, a grazing platter gives you more room for cheeses, cured meats, fruit, dips, nuts and desserts. Larger boards work especially well for parties, weddings, family gatherings and special occasions where presentation matters.

Handled Serving Boards
Serving boards are a practical option when you want something easy to carry from the kitchen to the table. Their longer shape and handles suit appetisers, breads, cheeses, desserts and shared plates while also looking great on display between uses.

Chopping & Carving Boards
For buyers wanting a board that can also handle food preparation, choose a design with generous timber-only cutting areas. Knives should be used on the timber rather than directly on resin inlays. This protects the resin finish and helps keep the board looking its best.

Gift Sets & Gift Boxes
If the board is a present, a gift set can turn it into a complete ready-to-give package. Resin boards suit weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, housewarmings, settlements, Christmas and corporate gifting because every piece has its own timber grain, burn pattern and resin character.

What to Look for When Buying a Resin Board
1. Handmade Craftsmanship
A well-made board should feel solid, smooth and carefully finished. Look for clean edges, a consistent surface, well-finished timber and resin that complements rather than hides the natural grain. Handmade boards naturally vary, which is part of their appeal.
2. Quality Timber
The timber is just as important as the resin. Fractal Flow Designs uses character-rich hardwoods and sustainably sourced timber selected for appearance, durability and natural grain. Because timber is a natural material, colour, grain and markings vary from board to board.

3. Food-Contact-Safe Resin
For serving boards, the resin should be suitable for food-contact use once fully cured. Fractal Flow Designs uses fully cured resin selected for serving applications. For best long-term care, avoid cutting directly on the resin surface and use the timber sections when using knives.

4. The Right Size for How You Entertain
Think about the number of people you usually serve and how much food you like to present. A compact cheese board is ideal for two people or smaller snacks, while larger grazing boards provide more room for entertaining. If you often host groups, a larger platter gives you flexibility without overcrowding the presentation.
5. A Design You Will Actually Use
Resin colour is highly personal. Some buyers prefer subtle tones that work with any table setting, while others choose bold blue, green, purple, gold, red or multicolour resin as a statement piece. Since each handcrafted board is different, choosing the individual piece you love is often more important than following a trend.
What Makes Fractal Flow Designs Boards Different?
Our signature look combines timber, resin artwork and real fractal-burn patterns. Fractal burning creates branching, lightning-like patterns in the timber before the artwork is completed and finished. The result is a pattern that cannot be identically reproduced from one board to the next.
Fractal burning involves dangerous high voltage and is not a DIY process. It should only be performed by appropriately trained professionals using controlled equipment and safety procedures.

Food Safety & Everyday Use
Our cured resin is used for food-contact serving surfaces, making the boards suitable for presenting cheeses, crackers, fruit, charcuterie and other serving foods. To protect the finish and extend the life of your board:
- Use knives on timber-only areas rather than directly on resin.
- Do not place the board in a dishwasher.
- Do not soak the board in water.
- Avoid harsh abrasive cleaners.
- Avoid placing very hot cookware directly on the board.
How to Care for a Timber & Resin Board
Proper care keeps the timber hydrated and the resin looking clear and polished. Hand wash or wipe the board with mild dish soap and a damp cloth, then dry it promptly. Re-oil the timber periodically with a food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner, especially whenever the timber begins to look dry.
Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, soaking, dishwashers and abrasive scrubbers. These simple habits help reduce drying, warping and unnecessary wear.
